Ideal Steel - Top Louisiana Manufacturer to Receive 2008 Lantern Awards

Louisiana Economic Development's (LED) annual Lantern Awards ceremony was held on 6/10/08 at the Governor's Mansion in recognition of outstanding manufacturing businesses from across the state. Co-sponsored by the Louisiana Industrial Development Executives Association (LIDEA), the awards are presented to businesses that demonstrate excellence in manufacturing and community involvement.

Lantern Award

Proving that a Louisiana Company Cares About its Neighbors and Gives Back to the Community.

Ideal Steel, manufacturer of custom-built steel structures, has been selected as a 2008 Lantern Awards winner for its commitment to community contribution, employee growth and facility expansion.

The Lantern Awards are presented annually to companies and organizations that demonstrate the advancement of Louisiana's master plan for economic development -- Louisiana: Vision 2020. It's goal by 2020 Louisiana will be a state with a vibrant, balanced economy, a fully-engaged, well-educated workforce and a quality of life that places it among the top 10 states in the country in which to live, work, visit and do business.  "Ideal Steel is helping make that vision a reality," states Stephen Moret, Secretary for the Louisiana Economic Development Authority.

Ideal Steel, located in Broussard, LA, held a ribbon cutting/open house at its new metal building and component manufacturing facility in February.

Broussard-based Ideal Steel is one of seven companies across the state to receive the 2008 Louisiana Lantern Award, presented annually by the Louisiana Department of Economic Development for manufacturing excellence and community involvement. The company's growth in employment and facility expansion were also cited by the state in announcing the award.
